PLANON SUMMER ROADSHOWS CONTINUE IN AUGUST

As we move into August, the Planon Summer Roadshows continue, so far we’ve met with 20 of 32 teams. Remaining Roadshows are with frontline staff from Energy & Water Services, Building Operations, and Chemistry Stores, to build awareness about Planon. We’ve had great conversation and have taken away 139 questions for response. The Planon team is working to respond through the FAQ section located on our website. The majority of questions are related to Planon functionality, and how staff will be supported during the transition in terms of training and hands on support in shops.

Missed your team’s Planon Summer Roadshow? Talk to your head or manager about being included in another team’s Roadshow, or keep up with Planon activities by visiting our website.

PROCUREMENT REPLACEMENT OF WEBER CONTRACT CURRENTLY IN PROGRESS

As our contract with Weber comes to an end, we have been diligently working on several Request for Proposals to source multiple suppliers to better address our requirements.

To date, we have issued 5 Request for Proposals (RFP), and finalized one contract.  Here is the update for each RFP:

  1. Plumbing Supplies – the contract has been awarded to Andrew Sheret.  While they have recently supplied UBC with plumbing materials, we have a new and improved contract in place to better support UBC.  Our support team from Andrew Sheret will be here to participate in a meet and greet event within the next few weeks.  Stay tuned!
  2. Electrical Supplies – the RFP closed with 4 submissions received.  We hope to announce the selected supplier within the next week.
  3. Building Materials – the RFP closed with no submissions received. This was very disappointing as the team put extra work in contacting our current suppliers and researching others.  We will further assess this market after the other RFPs have been contracted and negotiate agreements to support our trades.
  4. Industrial and Safety Supplies – the RFP closed with 6 submissions received.  We are reviewing the proposals and hope to have a contract within the new few weeks.
  5. Custodial Supplies – the RFP is out to market with a lot of interest.  This closes August 15, 2019
  6. Chemical Supplies and Service – this RFP is in development.

Each category was developed and reviewed with the affected trades.  We will continue to share updates as they become available.

Customer Experience

KUDOS TO THE RELAMPING WORK COMPLETED AT THUNDERBIRD STADIUM

The Utility Worker crew reached new heights at Thunderbird Stadium this week providing exceptional customer service alongside the Electrical crews.  Many of the lights above the stadium seating area were burnt out impacting the experience for those enjoying the games. A 125-foot lift was brought in for the job and LED flood lamps were installed above the grandstands.

Thank you to Jag Khella for coordinating this job with Athletics and the staff involved.

WEEKLY TIP: HOUSEHOLD EMERGENCY PLAN

Making a household emergency plan

TIP:   A household emergency plan is an important part of how you and your family will respond after a disaster. Your plan will help you gather the relevant information and documents you will need and allow you to reconnect with loved ones should you be apart during the event.

Make sure to carry a copy of your plan with you, and to practice it on a regular basis.

For more information about making a plan, visit Government of BC’s website at: https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/safety/emergency-preparedness-response-recovery/preparedbc/make-your-plan?keyword=emergency&keyword=plan
