WAY TO GO BUILDING OPERATIONS! WE RAISED OVER $7,000 FOR THE UNITED WAY

We helped raise over $6,000 for the United Way through the Bake Sale (where we partnered with External Relations), the 6th annual silent auction, and the raffle for the 55″ TV that Weber Supply provided as a holiday gift.  A big thank you to everyone that participated in these fund raising activities.

People had trouble deciding what treats to buy at the Bake Sale as the treats were incredible. There were 3 tables full of baked goods and there was a great turnout of volunteers and bakers for our first year collaborating with External Relations. With your volunteering to bake as well as your participation in buying these incredible treats we were able to raise a whopping $1,177.

As in previous years there was a tremendous amount of last minute bidding and jousting for the silent auction and we raised $3,160 – which is the best result we have had to date!  A special thanks to Steve Windle and the Stores team for their assistance in providing most of the items for the auction.

Felinor Adriano from Custodial Services was the lucky winner of the 55″ TV.  This was the first year that we did this and the amount we raised was significant – a total of $1,734!  A hearty thanks to the United Way and the Custodial Heads that helped sell raffle tickets.

Thanks to your help, an amazing $6,071 was raised! All the money will be donated to our United Way campaign to support after school programs for youth and seniors social programs in the Lower Mainland. The goal this year is to engage 1000 donors in the United Way campaign and we’re halfway there! If you haven’t donated yet, please consider making a payroll pledge or one-time gift from the Management Service Portal (MSP) (on the home page when you log in).

Thank you again for your support.

KUDOS TO ALL THE FACILITIES CREWS THAT ASSISTED WITH THE WIND STORM!

A big thank you to all the crews that assisted with the wind storm on December 20th!
It started with a multi building power outage and then quickly resulted in several trees falling that led to road closures and other safety issues.  Our Facilities crews worked around the clock to restore building systems, to clear pathways and roadways, to remove trees that had fallen on buildings and fences and other general clean up.  This was a significant event which required us to activate our Department Operations Centre (DOC), which allowed us to manage this event in a coordinated way.  All the Facilities crews involved in this event demonstrated excellent teamwork and there was a lot of recognition and kudos from the Provost’s Office (Pam Ratner), the Vice President Finance and Operations (Peter Smailes), Associate Vice President Facilities (John Metras) and other senior executives.  Way to go team!
