Building Operations Awarded ARI’s Best in Fleet and E#’s Platinum Rating

Using a partnership approach, ARI is committed to helping fleet managers understand their current processes and identify new opportunities, while being mindful of their long-term strategic goals.

ARI’s Best in Fleet Award serves to recognize fleet managers who have implemented industry best practices and achieved results which are truly best-in-class. UBC was able to meet their targets for sustainability and cost-efficiencies through combined efforts, which included leveraging ARI’s Subject Matter Experts, adopting new technologies and alternative fuels, as well as a complete refresh of the fleet. Implementing these measures took several years to refine, but the end results speak for themselves as UBC received the first ever consecutive E3 Fleet Platinum ratings.

E3 stands for Energy, Environment, Excellence, and promotes industry best practices for sustainable fleet management. E3 has 140 organizations as members across Canada.

To show our commitment to align with UBC’s goals to reduce GHG emissions 33% by 2015 and reduce funds allocated to fuel and maintenance, UBC Building Operations used the E3 evaluation to develop a baseline in 2012 and achieved the highest rating available, and first ever platinum rating awarded by E3 in 2014.

Some of the key achievements that aided our 2017 rating are….

A Demonstrated Net Reduction in Green House Gas Emissions of 47% since 2007

A reduction in fuel consumed of 35% since 2011

A reduction of idling or 74% since 2012

Our Building Operations’ Fleet is the best of the best. Feel proud next time you drive one of our vehicles efficiently.
