Coffee and treats for staff working on December 23

With most of Food Services operated locations closed for the season, Building Ops will be providing treats at first coffee on December 23. Come partake of the coffee and treats in the USB foyer at 9:00 am for all of you working on Friday, the 23rd.


Congratulations to the winners of the 2016 Staff Excellence Awards

Thank you to all who nominated their colleagues for the excellent work they do. Reviewing over 60 nominations was not an easy task for the Staff Excellence Award Committee. The winners of the 2016 Staff Excellence Awards are:

LeadershipTino Moscato and Grazyna Rougeau received the award for demonstrating an outstanding ability to motivate and provide guidance to their team to achieve their goal. They foster a culture of service excellence through positive attitude and constant communication. Congratulations Tino and Grazyna.
 InnovationBy improving workplace methods and processes, not only did Mike Kupfer bring the steamfitter’s shop to work together harmoniously, he also brought the shop into the 21st century.

Through original thinking and creativity, Ellen Grande revamped the elevator tracking sheet to a more functional and useful report and developed a minor fire impairment form which proved to be very useful to Fire Life and Safety.

Customer ServiceBy consistently providing superior service and going the extra mile to meet clients’ needs, Maria Kotsaridas and Florante Navarra received the Customer Service Award. Committed to service excellence, they demonstrated strong leadership and credibility to our clients as representatives of Building Operations.

Health, Safety & WellnessBarry Jones, a strong advocate of safety, has a proactive approach in ensuring a safe workplace. He constantly finds solutions for a safer work practice without compromising operations. His involvement with the University Joint Health and Safety Committee is invaluable.

TeamworkFlora Fenton, Pearle Lundeen and Alexandra Psiharis demonstrated exemplary collaboration and reliability in handling and dispatching service calls. Even under critical conditions, they worked together and handled the intense moments collaboratively and professionally.

Congratulations Service Centre Coordinators

The Kim Nulty Award is given to a colleague who excelled in at least three categories. This year, Stan Takenaka wins the award for an inspiring and outstanding service to the university.

Thomas and Ian win the Dart Tournament and the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau Charity wins too!

Congratulations Thomas Shields and Ian Barnard who won in a triple team knockout challenge, beating teams John Singh/Manuel Barreira and Paul McLaughlin/Fred Green in the tournament. Barb Shimizu did a great job selling 50/50 tickets which was won by Guy Champagne. Thanks to all who participated in this year’s Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau Charity Dart Tournament. Together, a total of $710 was raised for the charity.
