SR BLITZ SUCCESS–IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE TO OUR CUSTOMERS

Thanks to concentrated efforts by the zone trades to tackle the list of outstanding SRs, we received this thank you from MOA Facility Manager Brannen Bell:

“As a frequent submitter of service requests, there are times when my list of open requests can become quite long. Over the last several weeks, the response time to the requests has greatly improved, and requests are being completed and closed in a very timely manner. The effort that Building Operations’ trades are putting in has helped make MOA run more smoothly and is keeping the building looking its best. A big thank you to everyone at Building Ops.”

Well done and keep up the great work!

UPDATED GREEN FLEET ACTION PLAN ENABLES OUR COMMITMENT TO BEING GREEN

In 2014, Building Operations was awarded E3 Fleet’s Platinum rating. It’s E3 Fleet’s highest designation, which recognizes the most fuel efficient and environmentally-conscious fleets in Canada. We were the first fleet in Canada to receive this award.

A key factor in receiving this award was our Green Fleet Action Plan which details how Building Operations leads the way in sustainable fleet practices.

We’ve updated the plan to reflect our current goals and our plan to achieve them. Our goals include:

By 2020,

  • Reduce our Greenhouse Gas Emissions to 275 tons—that’s 67% less than 2007 levels
  • Achieve an optimal fleet vehicle age—it is cost effective to sell assets while they have value and before they become a maintenance headache. We are currently at 7-year average down from 12.
  • Replace 80% of our fleet by second quarter 2017 and replace 100%

Our strategies to meet these goals include:

  • Renew fleet assets with alternative fuel vehicles and electrics
  • Promote safe, fuel-efficient driver behavior through training
  • Make prudent choices with our existing fleet resources
  • And more!

You can read more about our commitment to green fleet practices by taking a look at the plan itself. It will be posted in different areas in UBC, like on the board across from Stores. Updated online link will be available soon!

KINDNESS AND COMMUNITY AT A SPECIAL VAISAKHI CELEBRATION

On Thursday, April 13th, members from our Custodial and Utility Worker teams worked tirelessly to put on an amazing Vaisakhi celebration for anyone and everyone to attend.

Vaisakhi is all about community, progression and celebration, and this year, they outdid themselves!

Set up began at 5:15am, homemade samosas and pakora along with mounds of Tim Hortons muffins and coffee were given out, all through the generosity and at the own cost of our staff. The second round set up at 3:30pm with even more delicious homemade food.

From everyone who partook in the event, a huge THANK YOU for all your work and kindness.
