With the updated guidance from the BC Centre for Disease Control, the performance of UBC building ventilation systems remains our particular focus to ensure systems are in good operating condition. The Heating and Ventilation Systems (HVAC) working group has been established to determine and recommend any further technical measures that should be taken with building ventilation systems to ensure a high standard of safety and reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission.

Adjustments to pH and alkalinity of regions drinking water in June 2021

Metro Vancouver has notified UBC Vancouver that they are planning to increase the pH and alkalinity of the region’s drinking water through the use of natural minerals in early June 2021. This increase in pH and alkalinity is an important step in a long-term program to reduce pipe corrosion from naturally occurring elements in drinking water.
