Custodial Services has been working with Free Periods Canada, a grassroots organization founded by UBC students, to promote intersectional menstrual equity by ensuring all menstruators have access to the products and information they need.
Since 2019, Building Operations installed menstrual dispensers in approximately 300 washrooms across campus offering free menstrual products. Towards the end of 2020, additional dispensers were added across the university.
Free Periods Canada has been working closely with the UBC community since 2016 to improve period product access and initiative conversations about menstrual stigma.
