VACCINATION CLINIC IN PHARMACEUTICAL SCIENCES BUILDING

A huge thank you to all the crews and teams for rapidly setting up the atrium of the Pharmaceutical Sciences Building (PharmSci) in support of the vaccination clinic for Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH).

Thanks to the our Utility Workers, Moving Crew, Custodial Services, Carpentry shop, and Electricians for being so quick in responding to the needs of VCH.

The clinic

UBC has entered an agreement with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH), enabling them the use of Pharmaceutical Sciences Building (PharmSci) to host a vaccination site for administering COVID-19 vaccines to eligible members of the public, based on specific phases of B.C.’s COVID-19 Immunization Plan.

The immunization stations will be set up in the atrium of the PharmSci Building, and run from March through to August 2021, and demobilize for the start of Fall 2021 term, so that academic activities planned for the building are not disrupted.

VCH will be on site this week to finalize the set-up and do safety walk-through. The clinic will officially start Monday, March 29, 2021. VCH will manage all bookings, and VCH workers will be on site daily from 8:00 a.m.- 8:00 p.m.

  • The clinic will have one-way flow, entry through Agronomy Road and Exit towards Thunderbird Parkade.
  • Faculty and staff working in the building are encouraged to use the Wesbrook entry, and signage will be posted to divert foot traffic to the appropriate entrances.
  • Access to the atrium is available in the mornings until 8:30 a.m., and for evening shifts, after 7:30 p.m.
  • Use of the East elevators to/from the lobby will not be available during the clinic hours

For questions or concerns, please contact Facilities Manager, Jeff Smith (jeff.smith@ubc.ca)

INCREASED ON-CAMPUS ACTIVITY FOR THE 2021/22 WINTER SESSION

Based on current immunization timelines and vaccine approvals, and with strong and effective safety plans in place, UBC is planning for a return to on-campus activity for Winter Session, Term 1, in September.

Broadcast email: https://broadcastemail.ubc.ca/2021/03/08/increased-on-campus-activity-for-the-2021-22-winter-session-2

It is important to stress that the health and wellbeing of our UBC community remain our first priority. As such, we are embarking on further planning, in collaboration with public health, to accommodate more on-campus activities. This includes transit planning; quarantine arrangements for international students (if required); options for on-site immunization; and the availability of study spaces.

We are also streamlining the COVID-19 Safety Plan process, informed by new Go-Forward Guidelines, which will be provided by the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Training. More information about the safety planning process will be provided as it becomes available.

SYSTEMIC RACISM: WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE IN CANADA AND HOW TO FIGHT IT?
