BIRDS NESTS AROUND CAMPUS

It is the time of year where many species of birds are actively nesting.  If your crews come across a birds nest that is impacting your work please follow these steps:

  1. Please do not disturb any nests until we have had them assessed.  Birds with active nests can get aggressive so please use caution when working nearby.
  2. Our Clerk, Shirley Tseng, is helping Custodial in the administration of the pest control contract which includes assistance in managing bird nests.  We ask you to take pictures and create a service request and get it assigned to Shirley Tseng.  She will have pest control look at the situation and advise if they can remove the nest if it is not on the protected bird list, or whether we have to wait until the nest is abandoned by the baby birds and their parents.

EAD MIGRATION: ALL BUILDING OPERATIONS USERS HAVE SUCCESSFULLY MIGRATED!

Over the course of this past month, Building Operations migrated users from the old share drive and LBS fileserver to the new EAD Shared Drive.

Last week, Building Operations achieved a significant milestone: with the migration of Municipal and Custodial into our new environment, our entire department is now only using EAD accounts to log into our computers! In doing so, we were able to make sure all Building Operations users can securely sign into their computers and files, and provide all with a cleaned up shared drive space.

A big thank you to each group – your efforts helped to make the EAD Migration a success for Building Operations.

The EAD Migration’s next task is to migrate Energy and Water Services over to the new environment. Stay tuned for more as it happens!

For those that use computers often at work and are interested in utilizing Skype for Business, documentation and other getting started documentation is available online at https://collaborate.share.ubc.ca

In-person training sessions will also be made available in early July. Further details will communicated at a later date.
