Please Don’t Drive to the Holiday Lunch and Dinner This Wednesday
Remember, on Wednesday December 12, is the day shift holiday lunch and the evening shift holiday dinner – both happening at Life Sciences Centre. We look forward to seeing the over 550 who have RSVP’d for this event but we don’t want to see all of your Building Ops service vehicles. Please be mindful of the limited designated Building Ops parking spots in the area and walk to your meal. Be on time and leave your Building Ops vehicles at USB or your zone office.
Please use BOW9100003 for 1.5 hours for the event.
Building Operations Snow Response Featured on UBC Today
If the approach of winter weather has you cringing at the thought of hours spent shoveling heavy snow off your walkway and scraping ice off your windshield, spare a thought for the Building Operations and Facilities Management staff at UBC. While you may only now be thinking about pulling your snow shovel out of storage, these staff have been planning for weeks for any winter weather event that may strike the campuses.

Plan Maintenance Work Around Exam Week
The official December exam period is from Tuesday, December 4th to Wednesday, December 19th.
Please plan all work accordingly to avoid any noise, smells or other disturbances that may impact the students that are writing their exams. Here is the link to see if a location you are going to do work in has an exam schedule.
The spreadsheet has 2 tabs. The first tab pivot table can be expanded per date and/or per building. The second tab list all course section and is sorted by location, date and time. The numbers listed are the student numbers scheduled for the date in the building.
Please note that there may be minor room change requests from various departments that can affect the schedule for a particular building. Please contact the FM of that building if you have any questions.
The exams are also on the web at http://students.ubc.ca/enrolment/exams/exam-schedule and are updated as changes are made.
Grab a sweater and prepare for cooler campus spaces starting December 12
The temperature drop is urgently needed due to a pipeline rupture in October, which has diminished provincial natural gas supplies. Reduced building temperatures are being rolled out beginning December 12 to help conserve energy across our campuses. 55″ TV from Weber Supply To Be Raffled for the United Way
The 55” TV that we receive from Weber Supply every year will be raffled. All proceeds will go to the United Way to help those in our communities that are less fortunate than us.
Tickets prices are as follows:
1 ticket – $2
3 tickets – $5
8 tickets – $10
We are in the process of doing some pre-sales but tickets will also be sold at the holiday parties on Dec 12 and Dec 15. If you miss the chance to buy tickets during a pre-sale we will also be selling tickets at the different holiday events on Dec 12, and Dec 15. We hope we can raise a lot of money for the United Way!
The winning ticket will be drawn at the holiday breakfast on Saturday, Dec 15 and will be announced on Monday, December 17.
