Manager, Occupational Safety and Health

Tariq DinAs Manager, Occupational Health and Safety, Tariq’s main focus is assisting and strengthening the safety culture of the Building Operations department at the University of British Columbia (UBC). Tariq also supports occupational health and safety across campus by using the best practices developed in Building Operations.

Working with his values of mutual cooperation and respect, Tariq leads the team that builds UBC’s safety culture to improve both the physical and psychological health of the organization. Tariq’s driving philosophy is that all accidents are preventable and his team aims for UBC’s ultimate safety goal to become zero accidents.

In his 15 year of progressive experience at UBC Tariq has lead continuous improvement to safety management systems, hazardous materials management, occupational hygiene, and wellness programs.

A Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), Tariq graduated from Simon Fraser University with his Bachelor of Science and has pursued additional environmental engineering education from the British Columbia Institute of Technology.

Tariq lives in Burnaby with his wife and their three children.
