A reminder to all to please continue to follow the safety plan of each building on campus. Ensure you have your employee ID with you to access any doors that are locked and follow signage, sign-in procedures, etc.

If you have not done so already, please review the Covid-19 Procedure for conducting work outside your building of primary occupancy This document outlines how workers conducting work outside their primary building location can do so safely and in accordance with local COVID-19 safety plans:

BOREAL WELLNESS CENTRES OFFER SUPPORT WITH PROBLEMATIC SUBSTANCE USE

Drug and alcohol use may become problematic when it impacts your health and quality of life. UBC HR has partnered with Boreal Wellness Centres to offer Resilient Living Recovery, a non-12 step, mindfulness-based addiction treatment program to help reduce or stop problematic substance use.

The program is available for staff, faculty members, and their dependents who are experiencing mild to moderate problematic substance use. Resilient Living™ Recovery uses a values or strength-based approach to develop healthier coping skills and increase resiliency. It consists of 10 weekly group therapy sessions delivered through a secure video conferencing platform. You will never be placed in a group therapy session with another UBC faculty, staff or their dependent.

Confidential referrals (funded through the pilot program) and self-referrals (reimbursable through extended health benefits) are currently accepted. Learn more on the HR website:

BRIGHT IDEAS: WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!

We know this year has been filled with COVID-19 information and adapting to new changes both in the workplace and at home, and you may not have had time to present your Bright Ideas.

But we are always look forward to hearing your input on operational efficiencies as well as any new and fresh ideas you have to share with the department. A Bright Idea submission can also lead to winning one of our staff awards at the end of the year!

We encourage everyone in Building Operations to submit their Bright Ideas that contribute to the success of our five departmental strategic priorities:

  • Employee Engagement
  • Leadership Development
  • Asset Stewardship
  • Innovation
  • Customer Experience

Please visit https://buildingoperations.ubc.ca/staff/bright-ideas to learn more and submit your Bright Idea.  If your Bright Idea is selected, you will be contacted and possibly asked for a follow up meeting to further expand on your idea.
