Tarkan Serim joins Building Operations as team lead for the EMMS Sustainment Team

Tarkan will be leading the Enterprise Maintenance Management System (EMMS) Sustainment Team and will be responsible for EMMS issues resolution, back log management, product management, vendor release management, and will be a key member of the EMMS Steering Committee. This is a new position reporting into Building Operations’ Customer Services & Informatics unit. The EMMS Sustainment Team will also be responsible for:

  • Ensuring that the Planon product implemented at go-live continues to be maintained to that level of quality, or higher.
  • Ensuring that business support request tickets are fairly prioritized to provide business value to all system users, while considering the limited resources to accomplish the volume of requests.
  • Driving the product roadmap in a way that helps to achieve the long-term benefits and return on investment (ROI) documented in the EMMS business case.

Tarkan has extensive experience working on different software solutions and joins us from UBC IT, where he worked as a Business Analyst II on the Application Ecosystem Program (AEP). More specifically, Tarkan worked on the Utilities Management System (UMS) and Microsoft Dynamics NAV integrations with Workday, and acted as the deployment lead for EMMS, which will make Tarkan’s transition to this new position more seamless.  Prior to this role, Tarkan worked in different organizations where he honed his business analysis, project management and application management skillset.

Tarkan has a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Istanbul Technical University, a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, and a Master of Science in Technology Management from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
