PLANON UPDATE: BUSINESS PROCESS REVIEW WORKSHOPS BEGIN

The implementation of Planon creates an opportunity to review long-standing business processes for streamlining to align with Planon-delivered business processes. In July and August, a series of 20 workshops will be facilitated by the Planon Functional team to review key changes and efficiency gains for the go forward business processes with Phase 1 stakeholders.

The workshops will identify any activities or tasks that may be unknown to the Planon project team such as paper forms or spreadsheets that can be retired. The outcome of the business process review workshop will document end-to-end business processes in and outside of Planon and to support the creation of training materials.

Countdown to Planon: Go Live is 79 working days from today!

PARKING FOR ALLARD HALL AND SURROUNDING BUILDINGS DURING ASC CONSTRUCTION

The construction for the new Arts Students Centre has begun at the corner of East Mall and Walter Gage Road. This site has taken over the parking lot on the South side of Allard Hall, including the Building Operations parking there.

Building Operations parking stalls are available at Brock Hall and also along Walter Gage Road right across from the Tall Wood Building.

Please use the stalls at Brock Hall and along Walter Gage Road rather than parking in the loading zone on the East side of Allard Hall.

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO SUPPORTED WITH THE BRIMACOMBE WATER LEAK

While in the basement of the Brimacombe Building on an unrelated matter, it was recently discovered that water was dripping from the ceiling onto a Busbar which is housed in the switchgear cabinet. We immediately were able to identify the leaking Backflow preventer above.

Within an hour, the Electrical team had pulled drawings and identified the voltage to be shutdown. The backflow was repaired within the hour and the occupants notified of a building power shutdown. Custodial were quick to react, mopped up the spill and set up dehumidifiers. Steam fitters removed the water soaked insulation and the panel was then opened and dried out. The crews stayed back after hours to complete the work and power was turned back on by 5 pm.

Considering this had the potentially to be an unsafe and costly incident the crews pulled together and the building was back on line within a few hours.  A shout out and thank you to the; Electrical team, the Plumbing shop, Custodial, Steamfitters and the Operating Engineers for a job well done!
