48-HOUR INVESTIGATION REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL ACCIDENT/INCIDENTSDuring the first 48 hours immediately after the occurrence of an incident or accident, all employers are required to conduct a preliminary investigation. This 48 hour preliminary investigation requires:
Once the preliminary investigation is complete, a full investigation must follow to determine the root causes, and corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence. If additional corrective actions are identified (usually those that address the root causes), then those should be completed or have detailed timelines within 30 days of the incident’s occurrence. If none are identified, the preliminary investigation constitutes the full investigation. In 2018, Building Operations achieved 80% compliance with the 48 hour preliminary investigation requirement. Overall Building Operations is up at 89% YTD in 2019. Kudos to Custodial for achieving 100% compliance within the first quarter of 2019.
